Olympic National Park is the ideal location for those dreamy, moody, all the feels, forest photos.
I should have many more photos from this amazing national park but sometimes you just need to enjoy the moment, plus we were a little out of breath! On our way back down one of the trails, we saw a cutoff, talked to some people that told us it put you on top with great 360 views of Crescent lake on one side and the Olympic peaks on the other…well research your trails first! This mountain of a trail was straight uphill, and by uphill I mean over 3000 vertical feet in just under 2 miles. As this was our second trail of the day, we got about half way up and decided we wanted to see more of the park, so we turned around, a little out of breath and pretty hungry. This is a great example of why exploring locations for future photo sessions is important! In a wedding dress…dont take the trail on the left!
Let’s debrief the trip. Olympic National Park is located in Washington, takes up almost the entire peninsula, and boasts of spectacular natural beauty, from the rugged coastline to the soaring mountain peaks, glacier-fed lakes, and lush rainforests. Yes, it is actually a rain forest! Travel is made easy, as it sits 2.5 hours from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, and just 15 minutes from the cute ocean town of Port Angeles, WA (home to one of my favorite coffee shops! @thecoffeebox). The park’s diverse landscapes serve as a scenic backdrop that can create beautiful and memorable wedding photos to last a lifetime.
The park’s rugged coastline is a perfect spot for photos, especially at sunrise or sunset, when the light is most beautiful for pictures. Bonus, on a clear day you can actually see Victoria, Canada across the way! The sea stacks, rocky cliffs, and forested areas make the background breathtakingly stunning with the added bonus of crashing waves, welcome breeze, and salty air.
The Olympic Mountains are another stunning feature of the park that provides eye-catching backdrops for your wedding photos. The mountains offer a different and unique feel for your pictures. The beautiful and dramatic landscapes, snow-capped peaks, and crystal clear streams are perfect for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, creating a natural and rustic ambiance to your pictures.
The park’s rainforest is unlike any other, and a photoshoot here would be nothing short of magical. With the ancient towering trees that filter the light and create dappled shadows, the moss-covered rocks, the misty, moody air through the forest floor, and the crystal-clear raging rivers. These idyllic scenes are ideal for dreamy, enchanting photos that are both romantic and unforgettable.
Finally, the vastness of the park means that there are limitless photography locations you can choose from. You can select a scenic beach spot, or an alpine mountain peak, a waterfall, or quiet lakeside shore and each one will be magnificent. Plus, the diversity of the park’s scenery ensures that your wedding photos will be one-of-a-kind and unique, with no two couples having quite the same look for their pictures.
In conclusion, we hiked lots of miles, and found incredible locations for future shoots. Its diverse landscapes provide all kinds of photo opportunities, from rugged coastlines and snow-capped mountains to rainforests and giant lakes. The park allows you to create lasting memories with the natural beauty of the world around us. You can be confident that your wedding photoshoot will be magical, unique, and unforgettable in Olympic National Park.
